Did I mention I was random?

I love music! There are times I'm driving around and i look out the window and just start thinking of songs which would fit the soundtrack of my life. I've recently been discovering A LOT of new music, thanks to all my new friends and connections. Most of it has been Christian rock but not all of it. I'm really hooked on Dave Barnes right now. A buddy of mine took me and another guy to his concert recently here in Atlanta at The Loft. Not does this guy play awesome, sing amazing but he's a true showman! He had us laughing, crying, and wanting to make a difference in the world all this in about 90 minutes. Truly amazing it was.

I listen to music all the time. Driving, Coding, Writing, Reading etc. It's one of the few things in the world which consistently brings me joy. No matter my mood i can find a song or band to have in the background. I prefer music i can sing along too, which is pretty unfortunate for anyone who's every been near me while i'm "singing". Most of the time i find myself only singing in solitude but recently i've found myself singing in more public areas, even if it's softly to myself.

Probably the biggest turn around for me with singing was during my first 7|22 service. You see i NEVER sing, that should be sang, in church but there is something so wonderful about 7|22 & Buckhead which makes me just want to sing as loud as i can. I get drawn into the music, the words, and most importantly the meaning. Nowadays i SING with every breath i take during services. There is no fear about how i sound, there is no fear about how i might look, and there is no fear that i'll forget the words (thanks to the giant screens which coincidentally display them for all). The is just pure joy.

Besides singing i've also gotten back into creating mix tapes, of course they are now mix CD's and most of the time it's really just me sharing a play list with a buddy. The great thing about a mix is that you can focus in on a specific genre, feeling, thought or you can just go crazy and toss all kinds of eclectic stuff out there. With a mix no matter what you do it's personal, it's your creation, it's your gift to that person.

Music is the gateway to a person's soul in my opinion. You can tell a lot about a person by what they listen to, recommend and buy. Feel free to peak into my listening habits and see if you can "figure" me out.

Psalm 68:4 - 4 Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds— his name is the Lord— and rejoice before him.
