I'm usually the guy who finds the cool stuff on the Internet and shares it with others. So you can imagine my surprise when a buddy of mine introduced me to a service that i had heard about, but never investigated. The service is called jott and basically it's a mobile secretary.
You see i'm constantly having people telling me to check this out, or email me this, yada yada yada. And typically i turn right around and ask them to email me, or text me, or just remind me. Which is fine for my "buds" most of the time but in all reality it doesn't say a lot for me. But hey i've got an excuse, my memory is AWFUL! Now there are some things i can recall without even batting an eye, things in history, useless facts (lots of those), people and my connection to them. Then there are other things which i'm just not wired to remember, things like birthday's, important dates, phone numbers, email address, calendar events, names! It is not uncommon for me to meet you a few times and forget your name or better yet call you by some other name. I kid you not, I called this one guy Jeff for like a month straight even though that was NOT EVEN CLOSE to being his real name. Now he of course never corrected me (even though everyone else did), he just rolled with it and that didn't help me at all. I never thought i didn't know the guy, i'm awesome at remembering faces, i'm just horrible with names.
Ok back to jott. So here's he deal. You sign up for their FREE service (always a plus in my mind) by providing some basic details like your name, email, and cell phone. Then you go through a couple more steps where you get your phone confirmed with their service. Once you are all setup (takes literally 5 - 8 min's) you're ready to roll. So what can you do now? Well now you can jott! Right you still don't know what that is.
When you jott you basically call a toll free number which they provide you. You're greeted by the jott service and asked "Who do you want to jott". You can jott yourself, another jott user, anyone in your address book, or even a service like Google Calendar. Once you've told jott who you are "jotting" then you say your message. Once you're done just be quiet for a few seconds and jott will tell you they "Got it". That's it. At this point your jott has been either emailed or texted to the recipient.
The Service basically takes your voice and transcribes it into text. What's really cool is i can call it and tell it to jott my Google Calendar and have appointments and events automatically added for me!
My excuses for forgetting things is slowly getting smaller, but lucky for me technology is making me look smarter!
