This is a video post talking about my stuggle with personal confidence. It's in part a response to this Jarret Steven Nuvement.com post, and part something which has been on my heart and needed to be shared. Let me know what your thoughts.
Mar 14, 2009 at 1:18 AM You rock! I loved this! First of all...I love that you went swing dancing :) Did you miss us? hehe We were going to go, but I spent some time with some time tonight with a couple of female spiritual advisors and Eric had guy time with Mihir at the ball game. I'm sure you did great! And dude, I know you can execute some turns...you've spun me! :)
Anyways...this might have been a tough thing to do, but I think it's awesome. Love your transparency and your commitment to praising God through it all.
Mar 14, 2009 at 11:58 AM i know it probably doesn't make a difference what i think, and furthermore, you didn't post this for a response... but with the hope that other people, like yourself (me), will know that they are not alone in their struggles & there is freedom available to all of us through Jesus Christ...
But, i feel the need to tell you for the short/limited time that i have know you and had the pleasure of chatting with you, you have been an inspiration, encouragement, and light to me. You are an incredible man & servant of Jesus. AND I PRAISE GOD that you are taking captive EVERY THOUGHT and making it obedient to Christ (2c10:5) in an effort to realize your full potential not only as a Christian, but as a man and leader and friend... when you live in freedom, you enable others to do the same. Thank you. Thank you for not surrendering or shrinking back. Thank you for fighting. Living out loud & in truth. You are wonderful, Eric Ryan Jones.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Mar 22, 2009 at 2:26 PM Hey buddy...come running with me for a while. I'll get you running three miles in no time ;)
Besides that though, I feel this is something that most people in our country, especially in our generations, deal with...I'm not quite sure why this is? I'm thinking it has something to do with not getting enough of the confirmation through our fathers when we were children to know that we are more than able to do things (Wild at Heart by John Eldredge...good book to read about this stuff if you haven't already) but I don't know...I struggle with this as well :/ so I guess good luck! Hope you're doing well with this!
