Patching The Wall

Around The House Add comments

So the battle with the wall continues and i think i'm winning :) as you can see from the horrible photo below (that's what i get for not setting up my shot. The "hole" has been patched up nicely. I purposefully took the picture while the paint was still wet so you all could see it.

Patch 1

This picture is a bit after the paint had dried and while you can still make out the area of the patch with a couple more coats and a bit of "time" it should blend nicely with the rest of the wall.

Patch 2

Now to do this was actually pretty easy. I had some "light" drywall patch already (yes i have experience with this sadly). Now the light patch stuff is like cotton candy and is intended for cosmetic patches. IF you have to replace drywall with another piece of drywall you'll want to do more then just fill it like i did. The picture below shows my handy work before the pain got applied. One thing i've learned from experience is to use a metal spade etc. Those plastic ones have too much give in them and can lead to your patch having an almost concave look / feeling to it. Also once you apply the patch material it's a good idea to let it dry and then apply it again to ensure you get a nice smooth finish.

Patch Before Pain

So you're impressed aren't you :)

Oh yeah I just got more drywall patching experience than I ever wanted while re-doing my kitchen. Check out this giant hole I had to cover: http://www.flickr.com/photos/87632045@N00/2283180817/
