Traffic & Music..

So i'm driving into work today and as normal there are spots on my route where, well we just stop moving. There's sometimes an explanation for this like an accident, stall, police activity etc but most of the time there is no rhyme or reason for it. Now i'm a patient person so this doesn't bother me, i'm not one of those people who you see fuming at the cars around them, or tapping there steering wheel in hopes the person in front of them will move up 2 inches. Or my favorite the person who thinks that if they keep changing lanes they will move faster then everyone else. Problem with that last person is we got onto the perimeter at the same time and i'm still 2 cars behind him and haven't moved from my lane. Gotta love perception.

But then it hits me. I'm in the fast lane i.e. the one all the way to the left. If you think about it this lane should really never STOP. Sure it could slow down but it should never really stop. But it does so i decided to come up with some theories as to why this phenomenon happens. We'll call it the "jonese effect" because that's what smart people do, they make up theories and then name them after themselves.

  • The traffic stops because there is a guy somewhere in front of me just desperate to get the girl in the Red Honda Accords attention and therefore matches her speed, which causes him to have to stop and start suddenly as she tries to avoid this "loser".
  • There are enough cars on in my lane that literally no one else can get in it and therefore we just have to stop still someone get out.
  • It's 7.30 in the morning and some old man/woman decided to have an 8am dr's appt. They missed their exit and have decided to skip their appointment and just drive 25 mph around the entire perimeter rather then exit off, turn around and get back going the other way.
  • There is someone in front of me who can't figure out why it says East & West when they are sure they are going North. Hence they have to slow to a crawl at every exit "just to be sure".

So there you have it 4 pretty good theories. Feel free to leave a comment with yours, if you're is better we'll name the theory after you! I'm such a giving soul.

Now onto music.

I've been REALLY addicted to Tenth Avenue North recently after a buddy and some friends caught them in concert. He got me some of there tunes and i've been playing the CD so much i swear it's going to warp with all the spins it's getting. You must check them out (heads up they are a Christian Group). Personally on their new CD i like songs 1, 3, 6, and 10. You'll have to wait till the CD comes out on May 20th to know what i'm talking about.

Also you know i'm totally addicted to Dave Barnes ever since KT dragged me to his concert one night like a teenage school girl (sorry K but you did have a bit of the school girl rocker groupie thing going on). Now i'm the school girl rocker groupie . . . i think. I've got him on facebook, play his tunes like crazy, watching his YouTube videos, and now i'm voting for him to get onto MTVU. Here's his video for the song "Until You" which is one of my top fav's of his for sure.
